The Comedy Central Series has taken a successful web show and constructed an interesting TV show. In Secret Girlfriend the viewer is the star. The entire episode is in first person with the camera serving as the viewer’s eyes. Each show is actually two somewhat related shorter episodes combined to create a full thirty minute show.
Brief Background of Secret Girlfriend
At the start of the series Mandy, the star’s girlfriend, ends the relationship but quickly realizes that she made a mistake. She becomes a stalker and continues to try to reignite the sparks of the old relationship.
With the help of Phil and Sam, the star’s best friends, the viewer goes on adventures to find the opposite sex. The viewer meets Jessica, a down to earth girl that is fun to be around. She has a boyfriend and Mandy is always close by so most episodes revolve around trying to know Jessica better while keeping her away from Mandy.

Secret Girlfriend Episode: You Have to Choose Between Two Girls
At the start of the episode, Phil and Sam continue to try to gain wealth by becoming an interact phenomenon. During another adventure to a club, the viewer introduces Phil and Sam to women. Back at the apartment, the guys discover that their experiences with these women did not turn out to be the best for them.
Mandy is waiting for the viewer but appears stable and has accepted the fact that the relationship is over. She invites the viewer with Phil and Sam to her father’s birthday party. Near the end of this episode, Jessica (recently out of her relationship) is ready to take the relationship to the next level.
Secret Girlfriend Episode: You Get a New Girlfriend
The group is invited to a birthday party for Phil’s sister. Sam remembers that she use to like him and teases Phil that he is going to hook up with her at the party. At the party, a girl recognizes Sam for one of his web skits. Sam attempts to hook up with Phil’s sister but is quickly rejected.
Mandy comes to the party and confronts Jessica. Jessica makes it clear that she is in a relationship with the viewer and Mandy should leave. Mandy pushes Jessica and the entire party is preoccupied with the ensuing fight. While everyone is focused on the cat fight, the viewer’s sexy neighbor approaches as asks if the viewer want to leave for somewhere a little quieter.
The episode ends with a few questions. Now in a relationship with Jessica it appears that the grass may be greener on the other side. Jessica is changing now that she is in a serious relationship. Now the neighbor is making more advances. Only time will tell if Jessica is going to remain the new girlfriend and if so, does the neighbor become the new secret girlfriend?
The viewer will have to wait to see if this show with its unique perspective is able to reach the status and longevity of classic TV comedies.
