If there is one woman who stands tall among the male-dominated late-night talk shows, it's Chelsea Handler. Always speaking her mind, and best of all, keeping it real.
In case you don’t have an excuse to stay up and watch late-night television, comedienne and TV host, Chelsea Handler will easily become that reason to stay up past your bedtime. Host of her own late-night talk show, Chelsea Lately, on the E! Cable Television Network, she dishes out hilarious, sarcastically-toned commentary of the latest celebrity and pop-culture news and gossip. Chelsea Handler goes where others won’t. Even celebrity guests don’t quite know what’s in store for them as they are interviewed by the witty comedienne. About ChelseaBorn in suburban New Jersey, she is the youngest of six children and was raised by her Jewish father and Mormon mother - something she often jokes about on her late-night show. Chelsea has performed to sold-out audiences at venues and festivals everywhere, including Montreal’s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival and the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. She starred on the Oxygen Network’s Girls Behaving Badly and has made several appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Today Show, and also guest-hosted on The View. The 34 year old has also co-starred in several independent films, and has made guest-star appearances on several popular shows, including The Bernie Mac Show and My Wife & Kids. In 2007, Chelsea performed on Comedy Central’s Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour across the U.S. Chelsea Lately In 2007, Chelsea Handler began her successful journey into late-night television with her own comedy series on E! titled, Chelsea Lately. The show was an immediate hit, averaging more than a half-million viewers since its premiere. The show’s clips on YouTube have garnered more than a million views. And who says you need A-list celebrity guests to gain this much viewership? On the contrary, guests on the show are often not A-list celebrities, which only adds even more funny fuel and material for the comedienne to use. In the half-hour program, Chelsea provides refreshing, in-your-face blunt opinions on all things relating to entertainment, celebrity gossip, and hot topics. With a panel of leading comedians in the first half of the show, occasional skits, and candid interviews, Chelsea is unafraid to swear or even offend-all in good comedic nature, setting herself aside from the typical fluff of other entertainment shows. The hysterical comedienne proves she's got what it takes to make viewers laugh and wanting more. As the highest-rated program on E!, Chelsea Lately has recently been picked up to air through 2012. Best-Selling AuthorWhen it comes to taking her humor off the spotlight, Chelsea Handler makes a smooth transition by sharing her candid, witty flair on paper. Her first book, My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands is a telling, yet humorous account of her colorful sex life-the title should say it all. The book has become a bestseller on several lists, including The New York Times Best Seller List. Her second book, Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea is an equally hilarious collection of stories about her family, relationships, and career. Released in April of 2008, it quickly hit number 1 on The New York Times Bestseller List and remained on the list for 42 weeks. Her third book titled, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang will be released in March of 2010. If you’re interested in tell-it-like-it-is commentary and comedy, Chelsea Lately is the show to watch. Chelsea will have you laughing on the edge of your bed, even on the verge of tears. And, who wouldn’t want to end the day with a few laughs? We could all use some. Don’t be surprised if you’re hooked after just one night and if the words peekachoo and coslopis become a part of your new vocabulary.
